The color rendering index is determined using 15 indicators, or test colors. The standard Ra index omits the most critical diagnostic colors—deep red (R9) and skin tones (R13 and R15). These are precisely the colors that determine whether a doctor can accurately assess a patient’s condition. In medical lighting, the full spectrum matters—not just Ra 1–8, but also indicators 9–15.
