What is Lumen from Watt? The importance of luminous efficiency in saving electricity

The importance of luminous efficiency in saving electricity

LED lighting, compared to traditional light sources, is characterized by a very high luminous efficiency, which means that this technology generates the greatest energy savings, while providing very good lighting. To answer the question of what is the importance of luminous efficacy in saving electricity, start by approximating the lumen and watt units.

Lumen (lm) determines the amount of luminous flux emitted from a specific light source. The higher the value, the brighter the light. Electricity is always needed to generate light. In the SI system, it is referred to as watt (W). Each light source can produce out of 1 watt a specific amount of light, i.e. lumens. It is this ratio that is defined as the luminous efficacy given in lumens per watt (lm/W).

Luminous efficiency, also known as luminous efficiency, is significantly related to energy efficiency. The higher the luminous efficacy, the more effective the lamp is because it uses less electricity for lighting. The importance of luminous efficacy in saving electricity is therefore very great.
