What does the IK code mean?

Requirements for resistance to external mechanical impacts are given in the EN 50102 standard.

The two digits of the IK code describe the successive degrees of durability:

from 0 - no protection,
to 10 - resistance to an impact energy of 20 J.

What does the IK scale mean?

Step 10 corresponds to the impact of a 5 kg steel hammer or ball against the enclosure from a height of 40 cm.
