Lighting standards for schools and universities - regulations and requirements
In order to work or study more effectively, it is necessary to ensure the right conditions, including adequate lighting of the room. Therefore, schools and universities are subject to strict guidelines in this regard. In our article you will read about the regulations on lighting in educational institutions.
Light and work and study
Sight is a sense that is difficult to do without. It is enough to turn off the lights in a room at night to lose orientation. Looking provides us with about 83% of all knowledge about the world. Therefore, it is very important to take care of your eyes every day.
One of the key elements affecting the quality of vision is the choice of artificial light that accompanies us every day. Its inadequate intensity or color is not conducive to rest, but also to work and study. Therefore, in educational institutions, lighting is subject to standards and requirements set by law.
Lighting solutions for schools and universities
Regardless of the place of study, it is worth taking care of properly adjusted light, which will provide comfortable conditions for reading, writing or spending time at the computer. Already the sometimes appearing gentle flickering or the wrong angle of the light rays translates into the quality of the duties performed. One of the best solutions that go into schools is LED flush-mounted panels, which provide high stability of light emission, a wide angle of distribution and a natural temperature of 3000K and 4000K. An excellent example of this type of lighting can be the SQ 600 LED light box from Lena Lighting, the body of which is made of plastic, so it is characterized by low weight. The lampshade provides the lamp with excellent lighting properties. The integrated LED module, in turn, guarantees low electricity consumption.
Legal standards for lighting in schools and universities
The standards for lighting in schools and other educational institutions are not only restrictive, but also extremely detailed. They describe what parameters lamps should have in classrooms and lecture halls, in libraries and reading rooms, on playing fields and in sports halls, in computer rooms, drawing rooms, but also in music or laboratory rooms. Each space has its own requirements that schools are required to meet.
One of the most important standards for lighting in teaching spaces is PN-EN 12464-1:2012 "Light and lighting - lighting of workplaces - Part 1", which precisely defines the requirements for intensity, color temperature and color rendering index in office spaces. Importantly, schools and colleges are also subject to the Decree of the Minister of National Education and Sport dated 31.12.2002 on occupational safety and health in public and non-public schools and institutions, as well as the Decree of the Minister of Infrastructure dated 12.04.2002 on the technical conditions to be met by buildings intended for human habitation.
All the guidelines contained in the legislation are met by Lena Lighting lamps dedicated to such establishments. A great example is the Gamma Q LED Basic 300 plafond, designed for both ceiling and wall mounting.
