Flicker Index (FI) is a measure of ripple based on the determination of integrals under the curve. Unlike the previous measure, the flicker index takes into account the shape and filling of the waveform in addition to its amplitude. The value of the measure can range from 0 (in the absence of ripple) to 1. The U.S. IES recommends that light sources should not exceed flicker index=0.1.
where:A - area under the curve to the level of theaverage,B - area under the curve from the level of theaverage to zero.
Flicker Index (FI) is a measure of light ripple, taking into account its amplitude, shape and fill.
Flicker Index can take values from 0 (no ripple) to 1.
The American organization IES recommends that light sources have a Flicker Index value not exceeding 0.1.
The Flicker Index is calculated from the integrals under the curve, taking into account area A (up to the mean value) and area B (from the mean value to zero).
